My problem with Dead & Co. is that there is too much of an attempt to imitate the Grateful Dead . The closer you get to imitating the old band, the more you miss the old band . Furthur, and the various "Dead" outings have ultimately left me feeling the same way .Some of Phil's groups were interesting because they were doing the old material (with a bigger emphasis on the 60's songs), but in a different way . Early on, I enjoyed Molo's driving tight drumming sound, for a change from out two drummers .I haven't like d everything, if anything I think he is too conservative, should experiment more , but once in a while, the the show he did with Bill Frizzle . There have times I reallyl liked Ratdong also .
There is something else that bothers me . By using the "Dead" name they can fill bigger venues than their solo ventures . More people will show up for the "party" "It's the Dead dude" . Economics, maybe has a part in this .
